Since my last post, I've tried to paint these two oranges in this position
at least twenty times. I took breaks from them by attempting to paint
roses again, then switched periodically to a larger landscape. My days
have been filled with frustration but thankfully, not despair . . . The
subject doesn't seem difficult but I just couldn't make the surface "sing."

I have a thing for the orange on the left. Such great lost edges. The grey-blues look so good against the oranges.
You are a real perfectionist, I can hear them sing loud and clear :-)
I like these oranges. The blues are gorgeous and provide a beautiful backdrop for the oranges. I always love your brush strokes - as always!
Love these- I have a thing for both oranges...wonderful shaping and gorgeous color!! yum!
They are singing, you're just not listening. I have never seen such a simple composition that carried so much emotion.
Beautiful contrasts!
I went to my favorite art gallery the other day, floating around and searching for beauty like a lonely ghost. I left feeling even more lost because none of the work spoke to me. I thought, "Am I dead? Do I just not like painting anymore? Why can't I feel any of these?" Then I looked through your paintings (of this blog) and remembered what beautiful painting is really like. Your work is amazing. Thank you for reminding me. I don't feel lost anymore today.
Lorraine, did you know your painting is being featured on Art Monkey? Yea you!
