Cherries

Cherries are challenging . . . there were only two that were actually red.
Trying to figure out what colors the others were was a matter of trial
and error and much scraping and wiping. They really challenge any
notion of what you think you know color-wise.

This is lovely, Lorraine! The shadows and reflections are as gorgeous as the fruit!

These are so strongly painted and fresh looking. Aren't the reds intersting when we try and paint them, all the colors we use to get what we see?

I love the way you talk about your work as a painter, this search for the right color, the value of a color ... they are your juicy cherry that's what you did it! Great! Gorgeous !

Lorraine,
These cherries are fabulous...so very painterly. And the colors ARE spot on!

Lorraine, this is wonderful!I like the way you have them set up and the shadows are perfect. You managed very well the deeper reds which are always difficult for me along with the reflecting light. So much to enjoy in that little painting!

I'm loving your cherries Lorraine. You've captured great form, kept it loose with your signature brushwork, and I really like the diagonal composition.
