Stocking Stuffers

I really enjoyed painting this . . . didn't worry much about
accuracy. Just decided to try to capture the spirit of these glowing
tangerines. The neighbor who owns this tree grew up in England
and told me he doesn't pick any until Christmas Eve following his
own traditions growing up. I hope you'll find your own stockings
filled with love. Happy Holidays!

Beautiful brushwork. This might be my new favorite. Loving the oranges and the way you rounded the form and the light and shadow on them...yum. Love the sentiment of stocking filled with love. Well done and merry everything and happy always back to you!

A beautiful glow here.
I so enjoy reading about your process. Figuring out what you want to paint, truly seeing, finding the pattern... all are things found (and sometimes lost!) with each painting. It's nice to follow someone else on the same journey!

Another beautiful painting, Lorraine! Your paintings are so complex and rich, I can just look and look at them for a long time.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a message. I thought that being retired, I'd have more time, but I seem busier and busier doing less and less these days. Maybe after the whirl of the holidays I'll get back to posting and painting more.

I am currently working on two landscape paintings. One is getting near completion, so I can post that soon.
Like you, I've learned that I'm not really an alla prima painter. I like layering.

Best wishes in the new year!
