Espresso 3

Another small step . . . which may be noticeable only to me. It may
get worse before it gets better. I had some nice effects about 30 minutes
before I called this finished but foolishly thought I could improve on it.
Among the repertoire of things to be conscious of, there's also
recognizing when something is fresh and know to leave it alone.
I feel so close to crawling my way towards a different way of working
but it still escapes me. The good thing is that I can't wait to try another!

I've been impressed with your pottery paintings and the process that you are going through. Your awareness of what you are trying to achieve and how to get there is not only impressive, but helps others (ok .... me!) in seeing and learning. My desire to be a better painter is strong, but I am confused much of the time and frustrated that I can't get to a satisfying point and then to go from there. Well, enough rambling! Thanks for lending an ear. :-)

Really cool series. Colors and brushwork are so nice.I am personally drawn to the neutral, yummy grey colors in the first two. I really like the light in this one. Good luck with all!!

Thanks you two! (I'm seeing how much glare is in this photo.) I've been and am still very confused so you aren't alone, Linda. I'm noticing small things, comments on other people's blogs, links, little things that make me want to explore more, look at other artists, try something off the wall, out of character. I was trying so hard to be competent I forgot all the other stuff . . .

:) Ahh.. don't we all do that! I need a cop in my studio to bark "Step AWAY from the canvas!" Still I think you managed a nice painting - even if you thought it was 'better' before you finished it!
