Pear Gathering

I used the same three-pear photograph as for the last painting and
invented a background of grays just to experiment and explore a
different light/dark relationship. Since I started to paint representationally,
so many aspects of making a painting flew out the window while I
struggled with modeling the subjects. I'm just beginning to feel that's
turning around so when I step back to look now, I really am looking
at edges, temperature, lights and darks and how or whether they
contribute to the whole piece.

Really a nice one! I like the grays. Pears are always a good subject to play around with.

Very nice painting Lorraine. As always your textural painterly application of paint really inspires me!

This may be representational but it still has a wonderful abstracted feel too. Love your grays.

Both paintings are beautiful. Lorraine. I really like how the light sort of glows in between the pears.

I especially like the dramatic light and shadows of the first painting. And as always, I love your lush brushstrokes and color sense.

Thanks for visiting me. Summer is so full of kids and trips ad distractions, I haven't made the time to be on my computer much. I am painting only twice a week in a class right now. Although I know I should paint more, I just don't seem to do it. There's a song about that..."I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it..."

Have you produced any more paintings for the gallery? I think of you often with fondness and admiration. Hugs!
