Green & Yellow

The slight jump in size to 8 x 10 gave me the opportunity
to include more stuff but challenged every brain cell. It
was a good exercise to choose which elements would fade
and which would dominate. I wanted to paint great glass
but there was so much going on in the bottle it competed
with everything else. The bottle's shadow: those first few
strokes on virgin canvas were heartbreakingly beautiful,
but in the end, had to be sacrificed. Even when I figured
out what needed to be done, it was still hard to do it effectively.

Love the abstract feel of this. The colors are beautiful together. Really cool. Is that a knife blade where you signed? Like it.

This is gorgeous, Lorraine! The bottle's shadow is still beautiful. To my eyes, the bottle and its shadow are what make this painting stunning! I think this may be your best work yet. Great job!

Lorraine, this is spectacular!!!! I love the warm light. I don't know if you use artificial or natural lighting to light your still life, but it looks like the warm winter light that I've been getting. Just fabulous!!!

Lorraine, I hope all is well with you. Will you be at Carol Marine's gallery show this evening? My daughter and I will be there. She is an art teacher, and she'll come by after school. I hope to see you there!

Great harmony in this painting and you're right, not so easy to achieve. I can feel the texture also. Helen

Beautiful painting Lorraine! The shadow and reflective light of the bottle is wonderful. It's a great bottle, and I like all the shapes and colors you used, and the application of paint.
